WSce-Westmead-Hospital

With over a decade of healthcare experience, WSce has unparalleled expertise in delivering engineering solutions for world-class clinical, hospital, research and teaching facilities.

With both new developments and upgrades of healthcare facilities, there is a greater consideration of how intelligent design can significantly improve the quality and efficacy of treatment and patient recovery, leading to shorter stays and, therefore, a reduction in costs.

By combining proven engineering techniques with advancements in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD), we can inform your choices at the right time to enable critical decisions for the planning, designing and building world-class healthcare facilities.

Our company has been intricately involved in forming the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines (AusHFG) and Engineering Services Guidelines (ESG) that dictate engineering standards in public hospitals in Australia and NZ.

Examples of our work include

Infectious Disease Units

Management of the unique water and wastewater design including validated decontamination of all wastewater from the Westmead National Infectious Disease Unit (a specialty unit was designed for holding patients infected with risk group 3 & 4 organisms).

Nuclear Medicine

Working with a nuclear physicist for the design and delivery of a discharge system for a thyroid treatment room using I-131 (the rooms are designed for patient therapy and shielded to prevent radiation escape).

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Management of the fixture waste discharges from the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy room for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine.

Relevant projects

We have delivered more than 120 hospital and health facilities in the last decade, including all three post-disaster hospitals in NSW and ACT, and numerous specialist and first-of-its-kind departments nationally.
